We anticipate its arrival. Unquiet steams from the early dark earth. In the rheumy distance, a muzzy landform pulses at the edges. I don’t know that we are waiting for anything to happen. The snakegrass, sagebrush, and I. So the sun rises. So the sun rises at these great heights, also. There is much to accept in this life. We stand at easy attention. The mountain shields us when the horizon slits its throat. Brief coral splash on the overcast ceiling.

An iris rolls back

inside the ritual head.

Again, rasped blue dawn.
